A Little more from Seren Mai

(July2009)

Who I am ( and a little bit about Mam) My Mother is quite young so she says. When she was young, she lived in a tent with many animals. She had a little dog called Rosie Posie Rose Primrose Rosemary Robinson. When she was young Mam used to like reading books – me too. Strange isn’t it!

A day in the life of…Seren Mai.

Jan(2009)

I am Seren Mai. I’m seven months old and I’m a little Welsh girl. I Hello I'm Seren. Seren dwi.go with Mum to the Llanllawen class because Mum is learning Welsh. I like going there! I think I have an older sister called Truffle. Mum says that Truffle is a little dog, but never mind. Truffle is dear to me and she is silly and very funny. Anyway, here is my little story.

Seren’s diary

Last week, on Thursday morning I went with Mum to “Ti a Fi” in Clocaenog village. “Ti a Fi” is a play group with lots of little children and my friend Siwan. Mum says that I will go to school in Clocaenog village with Siwan when I am big. Anyway. In the afternoon we went to another play group in Ruthin. And do you know what? I played with jelly, and flour, and cream and other silly things. I sat in the cream and I was swimming in the jelly! I had jelly on my hands and cream on my hair and jelly in my eyes. Mum looked silly to tell the truth. She had bright red jelly on her clothes. But never mind, life is fun with Mum. And do you know what? I slept in the car. Goodbye!

A day in the life of…Mal.

(November2008)

Last Friday morning, I went for a walk, as usual with my dog. When I was walking I heard a sound. It was the sound of children playing. They were looking for Father Christmas. They came from Clocaenog School. Suddenly I heard someone say “Hello Macy!”  (Macy is my dog’s name). Then I saw a small girl (called Elin). Elin is my friends’ Llyfelis and Carys’s daughter.

Sunday morning I helped out in Siop y Fro. It was very cold. I spoke Welsh to many people. Everyone was complaining (me too) about the weather.

A day in the life of….Gerallt.

(June2008)

I got up at half past six unfortunately! It was cloudy but it wasn’t raining, very fortunately! I had a shower and I got dressed before seven o’clock. Then I went down stairs and I had breakfast whilst listening to the radio. For breakfast, as usual, I ate a bowl of muesli and I had a drink of orange and a cup of tea. At a quarter to eight I left the house and I drove to work in Birkenhead. About nine o’clock I reached my office. I read the post and E mails. Then I went to Chester to visit a school.
At half past twelve, I bought a cup of coffee and I ate a sandwich and an apple. In the afternoon, I drove to the council offices to discuss a new school. Very interesting! I arrived home in the village at a quarter past six. We ate dinner at seven o’ clock. Then I read documents (ych a fi) and I watched the T.V. news. I went to bed about a quarter to midnight. It was very late and I was tired actually. After a long and busy day, I went to sleep straight away.
Until tomorrow then
.

A day in the life of….a Welsh learner.

Recently, I have retired from full time work. Usually, I get up at half past seven and have breakfast. If the weather is fine, I walk the dog to the top of the mountain close to where I live. The name of the dog is Taff and like me he is getting on in years. When we get back to the cottage, I turn the computer on to see if I have received any E mails. Some mornings, I go to town to shop for bread and milk. I eat lunch around one o’ clock and in the afternoon I usually work in my ceramic workshop. My wife comes home from work around five o’ clock. She is a teacher in a junior school. Monday to Friday, we eat supper at seven o clock. Usually I play the piano, read the newspaper or watch the television.Later before going to bed, I take the dog for another short walk.

A day in the life of…Audrey

Last Friday, I went to a swimming competition in Limerick in Ireland with my team. We flew out of East Midlands Airport to Shannon at eleven o’ clock.

We ate lunch in a pub called “Durty Nelly’s” near Bunratty Castle and Folk Museum between Shannon and Limerick.

On Saturday, we swam excellently and we won 15 gold medals, 2 silver medals and one bronze medal.

Unfortunately, we left early to catch our plane because the event was behind schedule.

A day in the life of…. Pam Owen

Thursday – March 7th.

After breakfast at seven o’ clock, I wash the dishes. Then I went to the shops and the hairdresser. In the evening, I went to Llangollen to see – “ The Wizard of Oz” at the town hall. My two grandchildren were in the show. Excellent! A very nice day.

A day in the life of….Sue

I woke at six o’ clock as usual and I listened to the radio for two hours. At eight o’ clock a girl brought me breakfast in bed. Every morning she cooks me bacon, sausage and toast. I got up at nine o’ clock and I went out. I went to see my horses. I decided to ride my favourite horse  “Top Cat”. He is a big black horse. At midday I wore my new clothes. I was going to meet my friend for lunch. We met in “Annies” I like “Annies” The food is very good there, tasty! After lunch I drove home. In the evening Steve and I went to Theatr Clwyd to see a play. Before the play we had a meal in “The White Horse” in Hendrerwydd. This is my favourite pub to have a meal. I enjoyed the play. Then we went home. It was a lovely day.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a real day. I got up at half past six and I went to school because I’m a teacher. It was a boring day. I taught the children and then I drove home. I cooked the dinner,I watched the television and because my eyes were closing I went to bed at nine o’ clock. Another long day!

A day in the life of….Jessica Henderson.

We got up late in the morning. My boyfriend’s friend had come over the previous night and he stayed with us. We stayed up late (or very early!) chatting – and drinking! I fetched the Sunday papers and then the three of us went to the Coffee Mill Café to have a hot breakfast. After breakfast, I saw my friend from Threshers and she said that there was an European Food market in Ruthin jail over the weekend. It was very sunny and so, in the afternoon, we went to the market. I bought cheese (four kinds!) and some French biscuits – very tasty! My boyfriend Steve and his friend Gareth had prawns with garlic but I didn’t; I don’t like prawns. In order to stop ourselves from spending too much money on tasty food (and because we haven’t been there before – despite living here for three years) we decided to go around the jail. The jail was very interesting; reading and hearing (on the listening tape) about the living conditions of the people who have been prisoners there in the past. There were pictures around the place of old prisoners of the jail and one of them looked very similar to a man that Steve works with. We laughed about that! After a busy day (for a Sunday)! we had a very relaxing evening at home to prepare for the week in front of us.

A day in the life of….Marilyn.

I got up at eight o’clock and I had a shower before breakfast. Afterwards, I washed the dishes and I cleaned the house. After lunch, I went for a walk. At quarter past three I went to fetch my grandchildren from school. At half past four I took my granddaughter to athletics. Then, I made a meal for my grandson. At quarter to seven I took my grandson to football. When my daughter came back from work I went home to relax!

A day in the life of….Sue.

I got up at half past seven and went for a walk in Plas Newydd before breakfast. It was cold and frosty. After breakfast I talked with Peter, my husband, about writing. Then, I played the piano until friends came to call. We chatted and laughed until lunch time. For lunch I made leek and potato soup with fresh bread and salad. Zena said “Do you want to go to the cinema tonight?” We asked “What is the programme tonight?” “No Country for Old Men” replied Ali. “ What kind of film? Adventure? Horror? Romance? I say. “ I don’t know” replied Zena. We decided to see that film. Next, I went to the library to get poetry books. At seven o’ clock I went to the cinema. The film was excellent but very violent. Another day and I haven’t cleaned the house. Never mind!

A day in the life of.... Sue Nicholas.

The alarm clock rings loudly – I don’t like the morning! “Time to get dressed children!” After breakfast the taxi came at quarter past eight. “ Bye children, be good today” Then, I planned my day in peace. But…Oh no! The horses have escaped, and they have gone up the Ffrydd towards the mountain. The small naughty pony, Meg, has opened the stable door again. I grabbed a bucket of horse food and called “ Meg, Tara, come on!” Luckily, they came down to the stable again. Well, I needed to start decorating the children’s bedroom today. First, I had to tidy up all the toys. The morning was over. In the afternoon, the sun shone, so I rode my horse in the woods in Pentredŵr. The dog ran behind the horse. It was half past three and the children came home in the taxi. They had a snack and changed their clothes. Next, they took turns riding on the small, naughty pony. After tea, James went to Grandma and Taidy’s house while I took Zoe to her swimming lesson in Plas Madoc. Then “ Bed time children, it’s eight o’ clock” The children slept and I made their sandwiches and cleaned their dirty shoes. Mike (my husband) and I talked on the phone about the things we will do at the weekend (but don’t ever do). Bed time now. I read my book then sleep until…The alarm clock rings loudly…

A day in the life of....Vanessa.

I work for a company that runs programmes for young European people. Some days I hear many languages such as Spanish, German, French, Italian and sometimes languages from Eastern Europe like Hungarian and Bulgarian. We teach the students a little of the Welsh language and culture and Welsh history. Usually they like Wales so much and want to stay in Wales for ever

A day in the life of.... Georgie.

Last Thursday morning, I drove into Oswestry. It was very windy in the town! Homebase has opened a new shop there, so I went to buy some wallpaper. Then, I went to the shop called Textile Express to buy curtain material. I was happy because I have a bargain! In the evening, I started to make curtains. I want to finish them this week.

A day in the life of....Jenny

I’m Jenny. I’m pregnant! I wake at half past five. I go to the toilet. I go to bed again. I wake at half past seven with my husband Graham. I read. My baby, Seren, kicks! I get up at half past eight and have a shower. Graham goes to work. I eat breakfast at nine o’ clock and work from home ( as an accountant) Seren kicks! I eat lunch at one o’ clock on my own. I eat ice cream for pudding. Seren eats ice cream, and she dances!!! I work on my Welsh homework. We watch a film on the computer. We don’t have a television. We go to bed at eleven. Seren kicks! A day in the life of…Lucie

I got up about half past seven because I was working in Abergele. When I work in Ruthin, I must get up earlier. I had a shower and I had breakfast at ten minutes to eight. Work begins at at half past eight. I saw many dogs and cats in the morning. I don’t like staying in the house all day so I was glad to go to a farm to see a cow. The weather was fine, so I was happy to be there for three hours working! Unfortunately, I didn’t eat lunch until three o’ clock! After lunch a sheep came to the surgery to lamb. She needed a caesarean. She had two lambs! I was happy to finish at five o’ clock because I worked over the weekend and I was tired. Will it be busy tomorrow I wonder?

A day in the life of…Helen

A day in the life of....Colin.

7.30 Fetch the coal and logs, let the chickens out and feed them, then breakfast with Angie. Later on I let the pigs into the wood to feed; the geese are chasing the chickens so I have to separate them. Lunch and a nap to recover from the chase! Time on the computer now - then dinner with Angie and Blossom (Hill, red wine that is). And so to bed!

Bye Colin.
