An Article by Joy Mount for Y Bedol Y cais cynta! Clwb Llanllawen (ym Metws-y-Coed)Syniad da’ nde? Aeth y clwb i Swallow Falls, ‘Rhaedr Ewynnol’ dros y penwythnos (Medi 26-28) i ymarfer eu cymraeg. Wnaethon ni drio siarad cymraeg efo ein gilydd ac ein tiwtoriaid. Wnaethon ni gyrraedd yn y pnawn dydd Gwener ac, ar ôl cinio, wnaethon ni gyfarfod mewn grwpiau i siarad am ein lluniau a pethau wedi nôl o adre. Noson dda. Dydd Sadwrn roedd yn dydd yn llawn, efo gêmau, cwis, a wedyn (mewn grwpiau) wnaethon ni ysgrifennu storiau Llanllawen newydd i action yn hwyr yn y pnawn. Doniol iawn, a hŵyl mawr. Ar ôl cinio dydd Sadwrn, wnaeth y Côr gyrraedd – Côr Meibion Llanrwst Ar Cylch ( www.freewebs.com/corllanrwst ). Roedd y Côr yn ardderchog. Roedd pobl eraill yn ymuno efo n i wrando arnyn nhw. Wnaeth pobl aros i fyny yn hwyr, i siarad, bore dydd Sul wnaethon ni wylio ffilm “Ehediad dros Eryri” yn saesneg wedyn yn gymraeg. Ar ôl hyn, wnaethon ni adael y gwesty a mynd i’r oriel Alison a John yn y dre. Wel – roedden ni wedi cael amser da – a gobeithio wnawn ni ddod eto blywddyn nesa. Diolch i diwtoriaid a Jan wnaeth drefni popeth i ni. Dan ni mor ddiochgar iddi hi. Felly mae’r sylw gan erin (oed 6) - “dw i ‘di mwynhau” yn deud popeth wedi’r cyfan ein arwyddair ydy “Hŵyl yn Gymraeg”. Edrychwch ar y wefan www.clwbllanllawen.org.uk
An Article in the March 2008 issue of Y Bedol By Nan Vaughn Edwards. Clwb Llanllawen – Hwyl yn Gymraeg!Wyddoch chi fod tua 20,000 o bobl yn cofrestru mewn gwersi Cymraeg i oedolion yng Nghymru pob blwyddyn. Swnio’n galonogol iawn yn dydi? Wrth gwrs dydy pob un ohonynt ddim yn mynd i fod yn rhugl yn y Gymraeg, a bydd lefelau gallu pawb yn amrywio mae’n siŵr. Mae un peth yn sicr bydd gan y dysgwyr hyn well dealltwriaeth o’r Gymraeg ac mae bod yng nghwmni Cymry rhugl yn deimlad llawer iawn mwy cyfforddus pan fyddwch yn deall beth sy’n cael ei ddweud.
Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf mae nifer cynyddol o weithgareddau a drefnwyd ar y cyd gan Gynllun Gweithredu Iaith Ardal Rhuthun a Myfi Brier o Goleg Llysfasi wedi ennyn diddordeb y dysgwyr yn yr ardal hon, arweiniodd at sefydlu Clwb Llanllawen ‘nol yn 2006. Braint arbennig i mi yw cael bod ar Bwyllgor Llanllawen yno i gefnogi, annog a mynychu gweithgareddau o dro i dro. Mi rydw i’n adnabod y dysgwyr hyn bellach a phan fyddaf yn eu gweld yn y dref byddaf yn eu cyfarch yn Gymraeg a cheisio cynnal sgwrs. Rwy’n credu bod eu brwdfrydedd yn heintus, gan fod nifer cynyddol yn dewis ymuno hefo’r Clwb. Maent yn cwrdd dwywaith y mis gan neilltuo un nos Iau'r mis ar gyfer nosweithiau gemau. Mae’r nosweithiau gemau hyn yn boblogaidd iawn a gwelir rhieni a’u plant yn ymuno i chwarae gemau trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg. Mae’r gweithgareddau eraill yn amrywio: e.e. Taith Gerdded, Dawnsio Gwerin, Te Canoloesol Mae Clwb Llanllawen yn unigryw i ddysgwyr Dyffryn Clwyd ac yn sicr yn esiampl y dylid ei hefelychu mewn ardaloedd eraill yng Nghymru.
Swnio’n dda iawn ar bapur, mwy o bobl yn dysgu’r Iaith yn Nyffryn Clwyd, pawb yn hapus …..ac yn y blaen. Ond mae un peth allweddol ar goll - ein cyfraniad ni’r Cymry. Mae angen Cymry rhugl i ymuno yng ngweithgareddau Llanllawen er mwyn iddynt gael ymarfer. Felly, beth amdani Glybiau Merched y Wawr, Clwb Gwawr, Yr Henllys neu unrhyw gymdeithas/glwb Cymraeg, neilltuwch noson ac ymunwch a un gweithgaredd Llanllawen y tymor hwn.

Did you know that around 20,000 people register for Welsh for Adults classes in Wales annually. Sounds very promising doesn’t it? Not everyone will become fluent Welsh speakers, and levels of fluency will vary, of course. But one thing is certain, they will have a better understanding of the Welsh Language, making them feel at ease in the company of fluent Welsh speakers when they understand what is being said.
During the past few years Nan Edwards of the Welsh Language Board and Myfi Brier of Llysfasi College have arranged a growing number of activities for learners. These activities became very popular and enkindled the formation of Clwb Llanllawen back in 2006. It is my privilege to be a member of the Clwb Llanllawen Committee, there to support, encourage and attend activities from time to time. By now I know the members of Llanllawen and when I meet them in town I greet them in Welsh. I believe their enthusiasm must be contagious as their members seem to grow annually. Clwb Llanllawen meet up twice monthly with one Thursday per month reserved as a Games Evening. The Games Evenings have proved very popular with parents and children playing games through the medium of Welsh. Other recent activities include: Country Walks, Folk Dancing and Mediaeval Tea. Clwb Llanllawen is unique to the learners of the Vale of Clwyd and I am certain an example that should be emulated throughout Wales.
Sounds good on paper, more people learning Welsh in the Vale of Clwyd, everyone happy......etc.etc. But there is one key factor that is crucial to the success of Llanllawen – our contribution as fluent Welsh speakers. We need fluent Welsh speakers to join in the conversation at the Clwb Llanllawen activities. How about it - members of Merched y Wawr, Clwb Gwawr, Yr Henllys or any Welsh club or society ear-marking one evening to join Llanllawen this term.
